Lakes, forests, sauna culture and the far north.
Finland stretches from Helsinki and the southern coast through lake country to Lapland in the north. A summer stay might involve waterside cabins, national parks and long evenings; a winter trip could focus on snow activities or a city break. Distances are significant, so a holiday in Helsinki is a different journey from a stay around Rovaniemi or the northern resorts.

View offer: Magical Lapland day trip: December 2026Choose the season around your activities. Summer brings long daylight hours, especially in the north. Winter days are short and temperatures can be very low; check clothing hire, age limits and the physical demands of outdoor excursions.
Northern lights are a natural phenomenon, never a guaranteed inclusion. Dark skies and suitable conditions matter. Book a trip you will enjoy for its setting and daytime activities as well as any chance of seeing the aurora.
Domestic flights and long-distance trains connect major centres, while rural accommodation may need an arranged transfer or car. Ask whether your itinerary leaves enough time for travel between the south and Lapland.
