Lagoon-side resorts and a varied island interior.
Mauritius offers more than a beach stay: the island combines lagoon-side resorts with markets, forested hills and a distinctive mix of food traditions. Belle Mare lies on the east coast, while northern and western resorts provide different settings. Choose a coast around your preferred activities and the season.
A gateway to consider

Beach and sea conditions vary between coasts. The east can be breezier, especially during the cooler months, while each hotel has its own shoreline and swimming arrangements. Ask about the beach directly in front of your accommodation.
The warmer, wetter part of the year can bring heavy showers and tropical storms. Cooler months can suit touring and walking. Conditions vary, so avoid planning a holiday around guaranteed sunshine or a particular water activity.
Allow time for inland visits such as Black River Gorges and the island’s towns alongside resort days. Compare meal plans, transfers and excursion costs before booking; a long-haul flight arrival may not align with hotel check-in.
