Cancún’s hotel zone, Playa del Carmen and resorts farther along the Riviera Maya have different settings. Ask about transfer times, beach conditions and access to nearby towns. Seaweed can affect Caribbean beaches seasonally and cannot be predicted for a particular stay.
The Caribbean coast has a wetter season and tropical storms are possible. Plan archaeological visits with shade and water, and check local conditions before swimming in the sea or in a cenote.
