The Costa del Sol runs along the Mediterranean coast of Málaga province in Andalucía. Málaga itself offers museums and a historic centre, while resorts such as Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Marbella and Nerja have different settings. Choose between a city base, a beach resort and a quieter coastal stay according to the journeys and atmosphere you want.

Summer is hot and busy, especially around school holidays. Spring and autumn can suit sightseeing and walking, while winter is quieter and less reliable for beach weather. Check seasonal attraction and hotel-facility openings.
The coastal railway links Málaga with some western resorts as far as Fuengirola. It does not serve every town along the coast, so check bus, taxi or transfer arrangements for places farther east or west.
