Portugal holidays

In the Algarve, compare the resort and beach as carefully as the hotel. Albufeira, Vilamoura and quieter eastern towns have different settings; some coastal viewpoints and beaches involve steep paths or steps.

Lisbon and Porto are hilly cities with uneven historic streets. Comfortable footwear and a practical base make sightseeing easier. Rail can connect major mainland cities, while rural stays may need a car or arranged transfer.
